What an Older Shutter Upgrade Can Include

01

Heavy-Duty Aluminum Slats

Replace aging PVC or lightweight foam-filled slats that may split, bend, lose slat locks or become damaged along the sides.

02

Motor & Component Upgrades

When heavier structural aluminum slats are installed, motors and related components may also need to be upgraded to properly handle the additional weight.

03

Bearing & Bracket Service

Older systems can also benefit from new bearing brackets and properly serviced or greased bearings as part of the upgrade.

04

Manual-to-Motorized Conversions

Many older manual-crank roll-down shutters can be converted to motorized operation while retaining or adding a manual backup crank for dependable use during a power outage.

05

Backup Crank Integration

Electric roll-down shutters that were originally installed without a manual backup can often be upgraded with a crank option for added storm-season preparedness.

Existing Shutter Upgrades

Give Older Roll-Down Shutters A Stronger Second Life.

Many older roll-down shutter systems—particularly 25- to 30-year-old systems enclosing lanais and outdoor living areas—were built with PVC or lightweight foam-filled slats. Over time, those materials can split across the top, lose slat locks, become chewed up along the edges or bend because they are too lightweight for years of repeated use.

Jordan's can evaluate these aging systems and, where appropriate, replace unreliable slats with heavy-duty structural aluminum. Because the upgraded slats carry additional weight, the job may also require properly sized motors, upgraded components, new bearing brackets and bearing service so the entire system works together correctly.

Older manual-crank roll-down shutters can often be converted to motorized operation as part of the same modernization process. Where possible, Jordan's can also build in or retain a manual backup crank so the shutter can still be operated if electrical power is unavailable.

Built Around the Existing System Every older shutter is different. Jordan's evaluates the condition, size, components and operating requirements of the existing system before recommending an upgrade.
A Growing Repair Need

Legacy Motor Problems Need Modern Solutions.

Jordan's has been seeing a growing number of older electric roll-down shutter systems with motors that no longer hold their programmed memory or operate reliably. Many of these systems were installed 15 or more years ago by companies that are no longer in business.

When repeated programming or adjustment no longer solves the problem, replacing the outdated motor can be the most dependable repair. Jordan's evaluates the existing shutter, matches the replacement motor to the system and verifies proper operation before the job is complete.
